UWESub is an autonomous submarine built by the Robotics BSc students of UWE (University of the West of England) for the SAUC-E competition. SAUC-E is a competition designed to challenge the next generation of engineers in the design and construction of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) capable of performing real world tasks, from passing through obstacles to surveying pipelines on the sea bed. In addition to these challenges it hopes to get students interested in careers in this field.
SAUC-E 2011 is set for July 4th to July 10th 2011.
This years mission rules can be found here. This year also opens up the competition to non-European teams.
This site is focused around SAUC-E : student autonomous underwater challenges - Europe and related research and developments.
We are all students from the University of West England - www.uwe.ac.uk and the BRL - www.brl.ac.uk/ from the 1st year robotics BSc through masters to Ph.D students and we volunteer our spare time to take this exciting project forward.
The majority of facilities are provided by University of West England’s Frenchay campus and the Bristol Robotics Laboratory
